    FAQs

How can a counselor help you if you can't solve things on your own?

A counselor can help you by providing a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your concerns, gain insight into your thoughts and emotions, and develop effective strategies to manage difficult situations. By working collaboratively with your counselor, you can develop a plan of action that is tailored to your unique needs and goals, and work towards finding sustainable solutions that promote your well-being and growth.

How does the therapy process work?

Counseling is a collaborative process where we work together to find sustainable solutions to your concerns. The first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, your problem areas, building a relationship of trust and understanding, and setting goals for therapy. As we continue, we will explore your concerns more deeply, identify underlying issues, challenge unhealthy patterns, and develop new skills to manage difficult situations.

How soon will I begin to feel better?

It's important to understand that the pace at which you may begin to feel better during counseling can vary depending on your unique circumstances and the nature of your concerns. Some people may start feeling better after just a few sessions, while others may require more time and effort to see significant changes.

It's also important to remember that counseling is a process that involves exploration, self-reflection, and the development of new skills and coping mechanisms. This process can take time, and it's important to be patient and committed to the process.

While there is no set timeline for when you will begin to feel better during counseling, many clients have reported experiencing some level of relief after just a few sessions. However, it's important to remember that each person's journey is unique, and progress can be affected by various factors such as the severity of your concerns, your level of motivation, and your ability to implement the changes discussed in sessions.

Overall, the most important thing to remember is that counseling is a collaborative process, and your counselor will work with you to find the best strategies and techniques to support your progress towards your goals.

    Does my therapist respect confidentiality?

TPL has strong policy with regards to confidentiality of the clients. Your feelings are completely safe with the therapist. Your therapist is bound by ethical and legal obligations to maintain confidentiality. This means that they cannot disclose any information about you or your therapy sessions to any third party without your consent, except in certain rare and specific circumstances such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

What will be the method of communication between my therapist and me?

Before a session with the therapist, you will be connected with the TPL helpline where you can explain your concern and preferred method of communication. We provide counseling through chat, call or video session (google meet, zoom, skype).

It's important to note that the method of communication may also depend on your specific needs and preferences, as well as the nature of your concerns. You can discuss your options with the TPL support team and choose the method that feels most comfortable and effective for you.
